Reading Quaker Faith & Practice

Table during a meeting

The red book pictured on the table above is called Quaker Faith & Practice (QF&P).  This book is an attempt to express Truth through the vital personal and corporate experience of Friends. It is largely composed of extracts: a fitting way of expressing the breadth of Quaker theology. It also describes the current structures of Britain Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (to which Epping Meeting belongs).

Epping Friends are joining in a wider initiative amongst Quakers in Britain to read and consider QF&P.  The aim is for us to better know the contents and increase our understanding what we do and why.  QF&P is a living text and subject to revision (we are currently on the 5th edition).

Study sessions follow after Meeting for Worship with upcoming sessions:

Sunday 8th November: QF&P Ch.23 Social Responsibility
Sunday 6th December: QF&P Ch.3 General Counsel on Church Affairs
Sunday 10th January: QF&P Ch. 2 Approaches to God – worship and prayer
Sunday 14th February: QF&P Ch. 5 Other Quaker groupings

As with Meeting for Worship they are open to all.  You can find the full text of QF&P online and there are plenty of copies at the Meeting House.
